Thanks for your interest, but it is SOLD.
This truck definitely turns a lot of heads cruising down the road. It is a rare item, indeed. One of only 2,842 made this year. Dodge shipped them to ASC, who made the conversion and then shipped them to dealers. There were a some leftover '89s sold as 90s, and even a handful sold as 91s.

I have priced mine according to condition. I shall consider any and all offers (even trades). These can sell for well over $10,000. Some are even available on eBay:
http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=dakota+convertible. You may see me cruising around Surprise AZ near Bell and Reems Roads.
Mine has everything except cruise control and 4WD. I have the 3.9L V-6, 4-speed automatic with overdrive, Holley 2-BBL throttle-body fuel injection, 15x6 aluminum wheels, power locks & windows, Infinity quadraphonic AM/FM stereo cassette.

I can't believe I have had this same vehicle since 1996. I bought this in Omaha NE. Since then, we have made many interstate trips: Omaha NE to Tucson AZ to State College PA to Rochester NY to Bloomsburg PA to Omaha NE to Bloomsburg PA to Phoenix AZ. I was getting 22 MPG on the highway on long trips. Around Phoenix, I have been getting 17-19 MPG going back & forth on Grand Ave from Surprise to Phoenix. I have fuel receipts going back to the beginning of the 2011.
It has only just over 164k miles. I had the transmission redone in 2003, new brakes all around over the years. The rear window is now gone, thanks to my dog and her big paws. It needs a new top. I got an estimate from
The Top Shop of around $900. Routine maintenance has been performed by
Mack's Automotive in Glendale. It is my daily driver, not a show car. New 235/75-15 tires in September, 2011.

One lucky enthusiast will be fortunate enough to grab this unique pickup truck. This is 1 of 2,842 built in 1989. Yes, the top is completely factory, and this truck is reasonably priced for how rare it is.

Many of these convertible trucks were destroyed in the
Cash for Clunkers program, a 2008 program that let owners get up to $4000 for buying a new car or truck from a dealership.

From the factory the Dodge Dakota Convertible truck comes with a 3.9-liter V6, but many Dakota enthusiasts swap 318 (5.2-liter) V8 engines into these lightweight trucks, since the motor mounts match up. Dodge even had a Shelby version for the non-convertible models back in the day, so it’s too bad this drop top truck didn’t see a factory V8. This type of vehicle will only go up in value.

Many people don’t even know that these trucks exist.
So why am I selling it? It's time to let someone else have fun. I will consider a newer pickup in trade, preferably with a long bed.

Genuine leather Ram key fob |
I'll even throw in a genuine leather & brass Ram key fob, given to me by the Dodge representative at the 1989 Midlands International Auto Show in Omaha, Nebraska, when the truck was new.
